ELCAN lens
E. Leitz Canada (ELCAN) made many different lenses for special applications - not just M camera glass. The X-Ray lenses were very fast and of amazing quality, which was what medical science and emerging technologies need. Accuracy above and beyond the pale of comparison - raising the bar of what humankind can do with optics. A very, very rare lens.

Dan Tamarkin here from Tamarkin Camera in downtown Chicago to tell you a little bit about our rarity du jour the Ernst Leitz Canada, or ELCAN, 65 mm f0,75 Picker X-Ray Lens. Made for the Picker X-Ray Company Corporation around 1970, this lens was commissioned by the X-Ray Company because they needed something very very fast to make x-ray copies with. And so again, 65 mm f0,75, so it's faster than their Noctilux Lens and a little longer. It has an E37 thread on it, and so it's not quite matched to the Leica M Camera, but these fascinating and very rare picker lenses can be adapted to Sony AR cameras and Leica digital cameras quite easily. So if you get a hankering for superfast f0,75 lens come and check us out here in downtown Chicago or give us a call at (800) 289-5342 or on the world wide web at Tamarkin.com. Thanks for watching.
