The Leica M2-R

Rarity du jour
The Leica M2-R. Approximately 2,000 units were made for a 1960s U.S. Army contract that was never fully accepted. So, the remaining cameras were sold off to U.S. dealers in the late 1960s. The M2-R is far more common here in the U.S. than elsewhere. Identical to a production M2-S camera (an M2 with self-timer), the M2-R had the rapid load feature that later became standard on the M4 and later M cameras.
